A man in his 20s who was charged with extorting two million won from his former owner for allegedly extorting the remains of a second-hand phone was sentenced to prison.
The Ulsan District Court said 안전놀이터 on Thursday that it sentenced a 22-year-old man accused of blackmail to 10 months in prison.
A bought a used mobile phone through an online community in July last year. Two photos of women's upper body were left on the mobile phone. The phone was not initialized during the second-hand sales process, leaving a photo of its former owner, B (20), to be left.
He sent a photo of his daughter's exposure to his father through a phone number that was left on his cell phone and sent a text message saying, "Money transfer 2 million won in exchange for not distributing the photos."
Since then, he has invited dozens of acquaintances, including his father and himself, to a single KakaoTalk chat room and posted photos of his upper body covered by his face.
Eventually, he received 2 million won in two rounds of 1 million won each, but he was arrested for repeatedly asking for money and reporting it to the police. It was reported that he did not stop threatening the police until the last minute by sending a text message saying, "If I knew I was scared, I would be afraid."
During the police investigation, it was discovered that A posted a message saying that he sold luxury goods in an online community specializing in used transactions and stole only money.
"The defendant is not guilty of extorting money by threatening to distribute the exposed photos," the court said. "He committed a similar crime again even though he had been punished for fraud under the guise of selling goods."
